Henrietta Ludgate
Local is better
Scottish spirit and avant-garde are blended in the collections
by Henrietta Mackay-Ludgate, who is known professionally as
Henrietta Ludgate
The career of the Scottish stylist, who graduated from the Central
St. Martins School of Art, began in the London studio of Osman
Yousefzada.
In her collection Henrietta seeks a balance between a sculpture
design and the sense of tradition and Scottish culture developed in
the perception of colours and decorations. These are creations that
have travelled zero clothes miles: every item, in fact, is designed
in her studio in Scotland; the production only uses fabrics from the
British Islands and takes place in the same area where she lives.
Her creations, inspired by the elegant beauty of Elsa Schiaparelli,
won the Fashion Innovation Award at the Ethical Fashion Forum in
London for Spring/Summer 2010.
